Timanfaya Prices: Entrance Fee, Tours and What You Pay For
The Timanfaya entrance fee is €30 (about $34) for an adult, booked online. Coach tours that include it start from $54. What each price adds, and the extras you pay on the day.

Entry to Timanfaya National Park costs €30 (about $34) for an adult, and the ticket already includes the coach ride along the Ruta de los Volcanes. Guided coach tours that include the ticket start from $54 for a few hours in the park and go up to about $110 for a full day with the island’s two volcanic caves. The evening tour with dinner in the park is from $149.
The main differences
- A good all-round choice: Lanzarote: Timanfaya Park, Jameos Agua, & Cueva Verdes Tour, from $99 per person, rated 4.5/5 from more than 2,800 reviews.
- The park ticket is sold online only. Children aged 7 to 12 pay €15 (about $17) and under-7s go free. You book a set entry time, and CACT does not change or refund tickets.
- On a half-day tour, about half the fare is the park ticket. The rest pays for the coach, the guide and the pickup from your hotel.
- A full day costs about $34 more than a half-day tour. That is less than the €34 (about $38) you would pay at the official prices for the two cave tickets it includes.
- Paying more doesn’t change what you see inside the park. The coach route through the craters and the demonstrations at Islote de Hilario are the same on every coach tour; the extra money pays for caves, vineyards, lunch or a longer day.
- Two costs come on top: the camel ride, €11 (about $12) per person, and lunch on most full-day tours, about €18 (about $20).

Lanzarote: Timanfaya Park, Jameos Agua, & Cueva Verdes Tour
Entry to Timanfaya, Jameos del Agua and Cueva de los Verdes is in the fare, with pickup from selected resort areas. Pick a date to see the guide languages and pickup times.
The tour we’d compare first
Three other full-day tours cost from $97, two dollars less, and each of them includes only one of the two caves. The Timanfaya and caves day tour includes Timanfaya, Jameos del Agua and Cueva de los Verdes, and its review record is longer than any of the three, with more than 2,800 reviews.
Bought separately at the official prices, the three tickets come to €64 (about $72) per adult. That leaves about $27 of the fare for a nine-hour day with a coach, a guide and pickup from selected resort areas. Lunch is extra: the operator’s restaurant stop costs about €18 (about $20), or you can bring your own food. At the starting price, two people pay $198 and four adults $396.
It makes most sense if you don’t have a car and want one long day that covers the volcanoes in the south and the caves in the north. Nine hours is a lot for young children, and if the caves don’t interest you, a half-day tour costs less.
If half a day is enough
The Timanfaya half-day tour and the Timanfaya National Park tour with La Geria both start from $65 and both are rated 4.4/5. The half-day tour has the longer review history, with more than 2,800 reviews. The other runs an hour longer, adds a stop in the La Geria vineyards and lists pickup from Playa Blanca, Puerto del Carmen, Costa Teguise, Arrecife and Puerto Calero. Choose the second if you would like to see the vineyards.
Best for a first visit without a car: about $31 of the fare covers the coach, the guide and the hotel pickup, and the rest is the €30 park ticket. Two people pay $130 and four adults $260 at the starting price.
If you are arriving on a cruise ship
Timanfaya and the Green Lagoon for cruise passengers is the lowest-priced way into the park on the island, from $54, and it is rated 4.6/5 from more than 2,100 reviews. The coach collects you past the police checkpoint at the Arrecife cruise terminal, so it suits a port day best; if you are staying on the island, you make your own way to the terminal. The listing gives a choice of shorter and longer options, and the camel ride, €11 per person, is offered only on the five-hour one.
If you are staying in Playa Blanca or near Yaiza
Two short tours meet in town and drive you into the park by minibus: the Timanfaya express tour from Yaiza and the Timanfaya express tour from Playa Blanca, both from $63 and both rated 4.6/5. The Yaiza tour has the longer record, with more than 350 reviews against just over 100. You make your own way to the meeting point, and in return the visit takes two to three hours and leaves you the rest of the day.
Dinner in the park
The Timanfaya evening tour with volcano dinner costs from $149 and includes park entry, the volcano route, the geothermal demonstrations, dinner with wine, water or soft drinks, and pickup from your resort. It is rated 4.5/5 from more than 300 reviews. Compared with the half-day tour, you pay $84 more for the dinner, the drinks and a visit in the evening.
How much is the official Timanfaya ticket?
The official adult ticket for Montañas del Fuego, the visitor area of Timanfaya National Park, is €30 (about $34). CACT Lanzarote, which runs the site, lists these prices in its ticket shop:
| Ticket | Price |
|---|---|
| Adult | €30 (about $34) |
| Child aged 7 to 12 | €15 (about $17) |
| Child aged 0 to 6 | Free |
| Canary Islands resident, adult | €24 (about $27) |
| Lanzarote resident | €2 (about $2) |
| Insólita Experience, adult | €59.90 (about $67) |
The standard ticket includes the 35-minute coach ride on the Ruta de los Volcanes, with recorded commentary in Spanish and English, the geothermal demonstrations, access to Islote de Hilario and its viewpoint. Parking at Islote de Hilario is free. CACT puts the whole visit at about an hour and a quarter. For two adults and two children aged 7 to 12, the tickets come to €90 (about $101).
Tickets are sold online only, for a set date and entry time. There is no ticket office selling at the gate, you need to arrive 15 minutes before your slot, and CACT does not change or refund tickets. Every tour in the price table below offers free cancellation instead; check the cut-off time on the booking page.
The Insólita Experience is CACT’s small-group guided visit: the volcano route with a guide, a stop and climb at Montaña Rajada, a visit to the Refugio de Tinecheide and a tasting of local produce and wine. It runs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at 8:45 and lasts two hours. It costs about the same as a half-day coach tour, but you need your own way to the park. If you have a hire car, our guide to visiting Timanfaya by car covers the drive and the entry slot.

Tours that stop at the visitor centre, cycle past the park or only see the lava fields from outside aren’t in these tables, because they don’t take you on the volcano route.
Where the extra money goes
Mostly into more stops and a longer day. The visit to the park itself changes very little from one price to the next.
Around $54 to $76: half-day coach tours. The park ticket is about half of the fare, and the higher prices in this range add hours and stops: El Golfo’s Green Lagoon or a La Geria winery. The Timanfaya area day tour, from $72, is a typical example, with a winery stop, the Green Lagoon and a lunch break in Yaiza over seven hours. Between $63 and $70 the tours visit the park in much the same way, so decide on where they pick you up and how many reviews they have.
Around $91 to $110: full days with caves or lunch. These add Jameos del Agua, Cueva de los Verdes or both, and two of them include lunch, such as the volcanoes and caves tour with lunch, from $105. In practice, the gap between a $65 and a $99 tour is the length of the day: five hours against nine, with the north of the island added.
From $149: dinner in the park. The evening tour is the only one in the tables where the extra money pays for a meal and an evening visit rather than more sightseeing.
Tours that offer less for the price
The Timanfaya and Cueva de los Verdes day trip costs from $97 and includes one cave, with 54 reviews; the tour we’d compare first includes both caves for $2 more. Premium Lanzarote visits the same three sites for $11 more and is rated 4.8/5 from just 12 reviews, a short record for a full-day coach tour.
What costs extra on the day?
The camel ride. It costs €11 (about $12) per person for a ride of 20 to 25 minutes at the Echadero de los Camellos, run by Yaiza council, which takes card or cash; children pay from the age of four. None of the tours in the tables includes it, although several stop there and offer it as an optional extra. The old figure of €12 per camel for two people, still found in some guides, is out of date.
Lunch on a full-day tour. The listings for the Jameos and Cueva de los Verdes day tour, the Timanfaya and Jameos tour and the Lago Verde tour put the restaurant stop at about €18 (about $20), and you can bring your own food instead. With lunch, the full-day tour comes to $119 per person. The south tour and the volcanoes and caves tour include lunch in the price.
The tickets on the cheapest full-day tour. The full-day island highlights tour is rated 4.7/5 from more than 3,300 reviews, and its starting price of $56 is for the option with no entry tickets. Its listing also sells options with two or all three tickets, which cost more, so choose the option before you compare it with the other full days.
What does a private Timanfaya tour cost?
Private tours on Lanzarote are priced in two different ways, and neither includes the park ticket.
- The private customised tour of Lanzarote is priced per group, from $1,059 for up to ten passengers, and is rated 5.0/5 from only seven reviews. Shared by four people that is about $265 each, plus €30 per adult for the park.
- The private full-day tour by Welcome Pickups is priced per person, from $469 for one adult, and has no reviews yet. Entry fees are extra, and its listing gives the Timanfaya ticket as about €12, while CACT charges €30.
Our private Timanfaya tours guide covers when a private day makes sense.
Do the volcano hikes cost less?
Yes, but they are a different trip. The guided hikes walk the lava fields of the Natural Park next to the national park, so they don’t include the coach route, the demonstrations or a park ticket. The guided volcano hike with transfers costs from $46 and is rated 4.9/5 from more than 950 reviews; the hike across Timanfaya’s volcanic landscapes and the volcano hike cost from $49, and the trek in the eruption Natural Park, with a Canarian snack and a glass of wine, from $52. Our bus tour vs volcano hike guide compares the two.
Should you pay more?
Pay for the full day if you have no car and want the caves as well as the volcanoes, since the extra $34 is less than the two cave tickets would cost. If Timanfaya is all you want to see, the half-day tours give you the same visit to the park for less, and with a hire car the €30 ticket is the cheapest way in.
