About This Experience

An 8-kilometre circular trek through the wildest reachable part of the lava country, run by a small local outfit and rated the highest of any tour on this site. Like the other guided walks it works the Los Volcanes Natural Park rather than the National Park interior — the difference being that here you spend three hours inside the landscape rather than an hour looking at it through glass.

The circuit takes in several separate volcanoes, following the lava rivers out from their vents. The guide is local and the commentary is as much about the living park as the geology — which lichens colonise fresh basalt first, how the vegetation of the area has adapted, what the eruptions did to the villages that were buried.

Halfway round, the group stops for a tasting of typical Canarian products with a glass of white wine from the islands, followed — this is the operator's own tradition — by a minute of silence in the middle of the lava field. Rescue and liability insurance, water and sunscreen are all included in the fare.

One of the best experiences we had in Lanzarote. Quite an easy route yet filled with stunning views. Our guide Sandra was simply amazing. Friendly, passionate and very knowledgeable so that we learned many things on the island and its volcanic and geological history. The local snacks paired with a cup of wine were also a nice way to end the tour. Highly recommended!
