Timanfaya National Park: Evening Tour with Volcano Dinner

4.4 (291 verified reviews)

About This Experience

Timanfaya closes to general visitors in the late afternoon, and this tour starts once they have gone. The park is entered with an official guide after hours, which changes the experience substantially: the crater route in low sun, the colours at their strongest, and none of the coach traffic that shapes a daytime visit.

The geothermal demonstrations run as they do by day — the ignition pit, the steam borehole — but the route continues past points the standard circuit does not stop at. Then dinner, which is the reason most people book this: three courses grilled over the open volcanic heat vent, served at shared tables of up to eight, with live music and wine, water or soft drinks included while the sun goes down over the crater field.

Pickup from your resort, the official guide, park entry, the geothermal experiments, the volcano route and the dinner are all inside one price. Vegetarian and children's menus are available if you ask at least 48 hours ahead.

What Travelers Say

Rated 4.4/5 by 291 verified GetYourGuide travelers.

The tour was well executed and organized. The experiments were very interesting and had my son enthralled. The tour of the nature reserve was both hair raising (in a good way) and eye opening... kudos to the amazingly skilled bus driver! The dinner setting is magnificent. Food was a little overcooked but that cam be forgiven considering they were cooking for 200+ people at one time. The portions and wine were plentiful and the music was pleasant. An overall lovely experience.

If you are visiting Lanzarote, do yourself a favour & book this trip! Unreal scenery, we felt like we were on another planet at times! The bus tour around the site was educational & fascinating & the food (which is cooked over heat from a volcano!) was tremendous! Our guide, Captain Jack, kept us informed & entertained! BOOK THIS!!!

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes the evening tour different from a daytime one?

The park is entered after regular visiting hours, with an official guide, so the crater route is run in low evening light without the daytime coach traffic — and the route takes in points the standard circuit skips.

What is the dinner?

Three courses cooked over the volcano's own geothermal heat, served with live music at shared tables of up to eight. Wine, water and soft drinks are included.

Can you cater for vegetarians or children?

Yes — vegetarian and kid-friendly menus are available, but the request must reach the operator at least 48 hours in advance.

Is hotel pickup included?

Yes. Pickup from your resort and the return drop-off are both in the price.
